Music is one of the most powerful things in the world. It can start movements, it can bring people together, it can heal people, and it can aid any emotion. I am a huge fan of music and everything that it does. The best feeling in the world is when you find your absolute favorite band or singer. I have been a fan of my favorite band for almost six years now and their music is everything. I’ll never forget the last time I saw them live. It was at Sunlife Stadium in Miami and I had gotten the tickets almost a year before the show. I remember counting down the days starting around 250 days and when it got to the 5 day mark I was bursting with excitement. That day I couldn’t wait to go and I made sure we left a few hours before the show started. Once we got there I could see everyone walking to the stadium with their band shirts on, some holding signs, some had it painted on their car windows. When we got into the stadium I expected to be pretty far from the stage but when we got to our seats I could see everything. We were one section up from the floor and it was perfect. I could feel the excitement in the air. Music was playing throughout the stadium as we waited for the show to start. When songs like “Grease Lightening” and the “Macarena” came one everyone was dancing and singing along! Then suddenly the lights go out, everyone is silent for a split second, then the whole place erupts in screams. The opening video starts and just before it ends one wall at the back of the stage opens and the band walks out. And for those 2 and half hours it’s like time stops. I didn’t have any worries, I wasn’t thinking about school or life problems, all that matters is the music. At one point I stopped and looked around and realized just how amazing it all was. All 60,000 of us were there for the same reason: for the love of that band and their music. All 60,000 of us were singing our hearts out to every word the band sang. And to every person each word has a different meaning. It’s amazing how music has a different effect each person differently.
“That’s one of the great things about music. You can sing a song to 85,000 people and they’ll sing it back for 85,000 different reasons.” -Dave Grohl
